RR1 - Traditional Men's One Piece Long Board Racing Suit
The RR1 is the Classic one piece Road Racing Suit first designed in 1974 and updated through the years for maximum comfort and flexibility without sacrificing safety. This is "old school", not meant to take armor but certainly a period piece for those who want a comfortable and safe period suit. This custom made suit is constructed of a single layer of 1.4mm competition weight cowhide.
All the zippers and hardware are long lasting brass. The wrist and ankles use raw edge leather construction to reduce the bulk in your gloves and boots. A leather beaded collar is used to reduce bulk and add comfort. Below the beaded collar is a zipper security tab closed with Velcro to keep the main zipper in the safety locked position.
The RR1 comes with extra leather sewn in the shoulders, elbow/forearm, and knees. It has a nylon mesh lining for comfort and ventilation. There is one license pocket (stamped with the Vanson unit number for identification) in the suit which is on the windflap behind the main zipper. We use the unit number to track ownership and service history of the suit.
Leather expansion sections are at the back for comfort and freedom of movement.
The lining is partially removable to allow drying, cleaning and the ability to exchange one lining for another. This also facilitates repairs and maintenance on the suit. There are optional linings available in different materials, from wind-blocking rayon to ventilated mesh (standard) and cool-max for the really humid days.
As with all of our racing suits, we have customizing options that can be added for minimal additional cost.
The RR1 is an excellent basic suit for the vintage racer.
