GP D3O Ghost CE Level2 Hip Armor

Direct Connect

Vanson GP Armor is built as a system of pads and D3O GHOST CE Level 2 armor shapes. We start with quarter inch closed cell foam that has been laminated to Velcro compatible tricot on both sides. This is cut to shape using our water jet, with opposing concave curves so that when sewn together the foam assumes the finished shape of the armor piece. The stitching of the foam shapes is done with a specially adjusted zig-zag stitch so as not to either compress the foam in the seam area or to have a thick, bulky, and uncomfortable seam.

In this style we use D3O GHOST Level 2 hip armor as the way the armor piece is created the pad has advantages of extreme flexibility and comfort.

Super adhesive is used to glue the velcro shapes to both the inner and outer surfaces of the CE L2 armor shapes. This allows the armor to be adjusted to the foam pad for comfort. And it allows the armor/pad assembly to be attached to the garment shell in the best position for protection and comfort. We call this method of attachment Direct-Connect, as the CE armor is Direct-Connect to the pad, and the pad is in turn a Direct-Connect to the garment shell.

The concept of this system is to both disperse and absorb the force of repeated impacts while providing the best protection. In order to achieve this, it is important that the armor remains in the proper position relative to the body and does not shift even during a crash. To best achieve this the foam pad becomes an acute shape cradling the armor inside the curve and holding the CE armor snugly against the riders' body.
